Minutes of Meeting held February 10, 2010

District Chairman Jerry Brooks called the meeting to order.

Pledge led by John Groves

Chairman Brooks welcomed all in attendance. Guests and candidates were introduced.

Chairman Comments
- If you have questions about the Yuma County Chairman’s letter sent to PCs before the Mandatory Meeting, please refer those questions to Randy Pullen, State GOP Chairman.
- It is time to start getting nominating petitions for Precinct Committeemen signed and turned in.  Deadline is May 26.
- New PC appointment certificates were handed out.
- Republican Platform books are $8 from Jerry.
- The Executive Committee has appointed Roxanne Callahan, our web master, to the vacant 2nd Vice Chairman position. 
- Candidates may display their signs at this meeting as long as they are smaller than 4’ wide.
- We need to treat all candidates with respect.
- Voter Vault applications need to be signed by Jerry.  Contact him.
- Those interested in working for the 2010 Census, please contact Jerry.

Officer’s Reports
1st VC Paul Brierley—Next month’s meeting will be an Arizona House District 21 Candidate Forum.  We have 5 people running for those 2 positions. 
2nd VC Roxanne Callahan—Excused.
3rd VC Rene Lopez—We are ready to take orders for the LD 21 Dinner Social Fundraiser.  Fliers are on table with details.  Please support this May 8th event.
4th VC –Al Leibowitz—No report
Secretary Marsha Atkin—The Executive board decided to purchase nametags, for those who would like one.  These are high quality, waterproof and indestructible.  The cost is $4 from the vendor but we would like to charge $5 with $1 going into the LD 21 account.  Marsha Atkin will be collecting money tonight or you may send a check--made out to Legislative District 21.  Send it to Marsha Atkin, 2292 East Kempton Rd., Chandler, AZ, 85225.
Treasurer Marcella Peters—balance in savings is $762.13 and in checking is $410.44. 

Main Speaker—Buzz Mills, Candidate for Governor
He stated that he was a pro-life “charter member of the vast right wing conspiracy.”  He said that there is a leadership vacuum at the capitol, and has a “one point plan to fix the budget…. cut spending and no new taxes.”  He has never held an elected office before so he is not indebted to anyone.  He said we need a “Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights” with a budget that would only go up as population and cost of living increases.  Arizona can be a “hub” city of power, education and training.  More info on-- http://www.buz4gov.com/
