Legislative District 21 Republicans Chandler Community Center, Chandler, AZ Minutes of Meeting held December 11, 2008 |
Jerry Brooks called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. Sheila Brooks gave the invocation and Emory Patmos led the Pledge of Allegiance. Maricopa County Supervisor, Fulton Brock, swore in the three officers present at this meeting: Jerry Brooks, Paul Brierly, and Marilyn LaFoe. Sandy recorded the moment by taking a photo with Paul’s cell phone. Jerry announced that he is running for County Chairman of Maricopa County Republican Committee. His goal is to win elections. He has sent out a press release today as well as a mailing. Jerry reported that the Statutory Meeting for Maricopa County will be held on January 10th at ASU West at 10 am until 2. Sandy Doty led a discussion of the proxy process as well as the sign in and credential process. All PCs should attend and vote or send their proxy with someone from their own voting precinct. We will elect officers for the County party at this meeting. She asked for volunteers to work Credentials and Tally: Paul Brierly, Kathy Jacobs and Nancy Chandler volunteered to help out. Reports from Officers: Paul Brierly, 1st Vice Chair introduced himself. He had formerly lived in Graham County where he was the County Chairman of the Party. There were no other officers’ reports. Since the treasurer, Quetzal Doty, was absent, Sandy read his report: $.31 dividend on our account. The current total of both checking and savings accounts is $1039.78. Sandy reported that the survey of PCs showed that 16 people preferred Wednesday for meetings; 3 chose Mondays; 11 chose Tuesdays and 7 chose Thursdays. Jerry will look into getting the room on Wednesday nights next year. Fulton Brock reported on activities at the Board of Supervisors. His tip of the day was that if we have a concern in the county or state that we would be more effective if we would write up a letter and get a least 6 signatures on it: that gets the attention of elected officials. The meeting adjourned at 8:25 p.m. Marilyn LaFoe won the 50/50 drawing. There were 7 guests and 14 members in attendance. Submitted by Acting Secretary Sandy Doty
